How many bullets do the young guns have left?

AUSTIN — Those of you who aren’t spending your days in dingy motel rooms — and thus don’t have access to complimentary copies of the USA Today — might have missed today’s must-read, on the state of the young arms that have been so fabulous this season
The factor that will make a huge difference for [...]

:insert favorite Trojans joke here:

Just overheard on the Dan Patrick radio show: Arizona Cardinals QB Matt Leinhert and a 20-year old USC female athlete are expecting a child this fall. The female athlete is taking a “leave of absence” from the team for “personal reasons”. Really? You think? Paris Hilton must be all broken up.

“Well then I guess there’s only one thing left to do…”

After climbing within 1.5 games of the National League wild card lead last night, there can be no denying that the Florida Marlins are the real-life incarnation of the movie-version Cleveland Indians from the 1989 cinematic classic Major League. The Marlins, at one point 20 games below .500, must have a cardboard cutout of [...]

Fluttering hearts in Boston

Let me be blunt: I hate the Boston Red Sox.
I view the Red Sox as a soul-less, sucking nether-void from which only evil and psychic pollution escape. The mere sight of Boston players or paraphernalia can cause a physical reaction.
I’m not a fan.

Watch out for this guy, he returns everything…

With the Nationals taking it on the chin again Tuesday night, I was forced to flip over (and when I say “flip,” I mean “turn off the radio in my MASN-less household, and turn on my TV, which has the other 999 stations,” to watch some other sports. In this case, I selected [...]

Yankees Fans, NY Press End Nationwide Drought!

The U.S., currently suffering one of the hottest years on record, and from widespread drought conditions, seems to have found it’s answer:
It’s all the cry-baby tears from NY Yankee fans (see the links here-in, not the post specifically) and the NY media.
(You didin’t get the rant you wanted from Papi or Manny? You got [...]

…and burn

Is it too much of a conspiracy theory to think that Alex Rodriguez is paying Carl Pavano? How else to properly explain the latest twist in the righty’s Yankee saga?
Who stands to benefit the most from the revelation of Pavano’s car accident? (I mean, besides the guy who’s about to sue him for a large chunk [...]

Monday Night Fantasy Notes: As the Raiders (past and future) QBs turn…

Here’s the fantasy football spin on a scad of, err, interesting developments from the last day or two:

Medical marvel

Carson Palmer tonight vs. the GB Packers: 9 of 14 for 140 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INT. This is the same man who crumpled to the turf with a torn left ACL on January 8th of the same year. Not 8 months have passed and Palmer looks ready to pick up where he [...]

They’re starting to call him K-Rod

A-Rod’s now at 12 strikeouts in his last 16 ABs. And the NY tabs are starting to smell blood. (Update: 14 Ks in last 20 ABs. The killer thing is that A-Rod is a like-able sort.)
