Scott asked me to respond to Mike’s post about the “Latest Crisis” at Boston College. I am not aware of there being any crises within the BC athletic department and have not read of any except from people who considered Tom O’Brien’s welcome decision to move a “crisis”. In any case, I decided to [...]

Helton to the Red Sox?
Reports out of Denver indicate that the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox are in high-level discussions centering around a possible trade of 5-time All-Star and former NL Batting Champion Todd Helton to Boston.
Clutchiness
I’m not going to quote heavily from it, but this posting on clutchness (I think “clutchiness” sounds better) over at Replacemeny Level Yankees blog is very interesting reading for stat-heads.
Be afraid…
I’ve thought that the rumors in recent years of the death of the Yankees’ farm system were highly exagerated … but I’m hoping that the rumors of its resurrection are not.
The Ongoing Crisis within BC’s Athletic Department
It looks like Gene DeFilippo isn’t happy with just ostracizing football coaches. The following comes from the “Daily Thoughts” portion of the Barstoolsports.com webpage:
According to Barstool Sports’ global network of moles and spies, Boston College athletic director Gene DeFilippo made the decision to dismiss Sean Williams and Akida McLain from the team without notifying [...]
Nats notes from Olney’s blog
If you’re not an ESPN Insider, I highly recommend looking into joining if for nothing more than to be able to read Buster Olney’s subscriber-only blog entries. His insight is pretty spot on most times and he does you the favor of culling together reports on players and teams from around the country. [...]

In addition to being the only television outlet for out-of-market games, DirecTV will be the only place you can catch a new [...]
Converting between baseball and soccer at RFK = $40k
I happened upon a very interesting article in a completely unrelated google search today. (I was trying to find out the dimensions of the ballpark in Wii baseball, as I hit a ball 383 feet to left field and it didn’t go out… I felt like I was in RFK!) Somehow I hit a baseball [...]
WGMS Announcement
I received the following in an email from the program director at WGMS about less than an hour ago: Please listen to 104.1 TODAY at 2:55pm for important news about classical music in Washington.
Effective immediately, WGMS is signing off as a classical station, and WETA is changing its format to back to classical. WGMS’ [...]
Show me the money?
The Red Sox have sunk $100 million into Daisuke Matsuzaka, a move that was hailed as brilliant marketing — the sale of Red Sox gear in baseball-crazy Japan would be a veritable mint. Or so the story went.
There’s only one problem: The Sox don’t get that money.
