Ex-pats living in the United Kingdom: rejoice. The first NFL regular season game to be played outside of North America will be coming this season and London has been chosen as the host. According to the article, the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins are possible choices for teams to play in the game, which is likely to be held at the new Wembley soccer stadium or the Twickenham rugby arena. The actual teams will be announced before the Super Bowl.
Perhaps once and for all we can now settle which sport is football and which sport is soccer.

“The Dolphins, but not the Giants, are one six NFL teams the league identified as potential home teams; they would give up a home game in Miami to host the contest in London.”
That’s cool. Provided they get some sorta bonus travel day.
Too bad it can’t be vs. the Eggles or the Cowgirls – would love to get a divisional really-far-AWAY game.

As a spccer fan, I come across Brits all the time who try to cop an attitude on me because I call it soccer (although I will refer to a certain type of player as a “footballer”). My standard response is to ask that, if Brits think it’s such a stupid word, why did they invent it?
