I’ll take “Overpaid, over-the-hill National League pitchers robbing a team of a paycheck in the American League,” for $20 Million Alex.
Answer: With a record of 1-3 with a 5.32 ERA in 5 appearances, he is paid more money than any other player in baseball to pitch 5 innings for a 3rd-place team, thus further taxing their already depleted bullpen.
Question: Who is Roger Clemens?
Hmmmm, I’m pretty sure SOMEONE said this wasn’t gong to make a difference for the Yankees. What’s that I see? Johnny Damon about to go on the DL? Pettite only has 4 wins? Mussins sucks? Hmmm…pretty sure that was discussed on this board back in FEBRUARY.
I REALLY hope Steinbrenner and Cashman continue to run this trainwreck of an organization. Next thing you know, they are going to trade Phil Hughes for Mark Teixeira or Todd Helton. Please God . . .

I’ll take “Blatant American League Bias & Ill-placed, Unnecessary, Backhanded Swipes, Along with Some Skewed Stats” for $1000.
The Question: “What is 12%?”
The Answer: “The percentage of games played by Roger ‘National League Pitcher’ Clemens in the National League.
For those of you doing higher math at home (break out that super computer, Mike – don’t wanna hurt your brain!), that’s 84 of 696 games. And 3 years out of a 24 year career. Who’s a “National League Pitcher??”
That part was a stretch, even in your depraved lunatic fandom, Mike. I guess you don’t count all those years of sub-3.00 ERA while pitching for the Sox?
And while I’m no Clemens defender (I didn’t think it was as wonderful a signing as all the media did), for the record, he’s pitched 6 innings in 3 of 4 starts, giving up 3, 2 and 4 ER in those games. That’s 2 of 4 quality starts. And in your beloved ball-crushing, DH-having, no-defense-required AL, that should be more than enough to get one’s team a lead, if not 3 wins. So, while the stats you cited (ahem, skewed, ahem) don’t look good, he’s actually been as good or better than a lot of the Yankees staff this season. That’s not saying much, and the Yankees are certainly a train wreck this season, but it certainly ain’t all Rah-jah’s fault.

FWIW, Mike Greenberg said on ESPNRadio this morning that he thought Cashman WOULD do something like trade Phil Hughes for Mark Teixeira this season – under the assumption that if the Yanks don’t turn it around NOW, and make the playoffs THIS season, he’s a gonner at year’s end. Thus, he’d be GM-ing for his job.
I think this is what they’d call “making bad decisions under pressure.”

Borg, I called him NL because his last THREE YEARS have been in the AL. C’mon, are we really talking about 2003?
AS for huis stats, I’ll give you the W-L, but a 5+ ERA at that salary is an embarassment.
STATS cannot be skewed by the way. They can be cherry-picked and sometime even manipulated, but data is data.

Well, well, well…as if on que, that was a hell of a game by the Rocket last night.
That’s okay, I started him in my fantasy league.
