It would be one thing is this came from a New York, Philadelphia, or Boston newspaper, but this is the hometown press slamming ACC football.
Bob Lipper of the Richmond Times-Dispatch has some startling statistics regarding ACC football in his latest column: http://www.timesdispatch.com/cva/ric/sports.apx.-content-articles-RTD-2007-07-23-0129.html
“The ACC was 6-16 against teams from other BCS conferences last year, 0-3 in its highest-profile bowl matchups, and 0-4 against top-10 opponents . . . The ACC is 3-31 vs. top-10 opponents since 2000 . . . Its champion has lost 7 straight bowl games.”
Yikes!

Dodd says the ACC is the 6th best BCS conference, which is what they were BEFORE FSU, Miami, and V-Tech came on board.

Bob Lipper has been whining about ACC expansion for the last three years. He calls Boston a “polar outpost”. For a columnist in Richmond, a third-rate provincial capital that makes Providence look metropolitan (hey, at least it has an Ivy League university) slam BC for being in Boston is laughable.
As for ACC expansion, it is raking in the dough. As you gloat over Mr. Lipper’s musings, I suggest humming the following…
Money, Money from the musical: Cabaret
Money makes the world go around,
the world go around, the world go around,
Money makes the world go around,
it makes the world go round.
A mark, a yen, a buck or a pound,
a buck or a pound, a buck or a pound,
Is all that makes the world go around,
that clinking clanking sound,
Can make the world go round.
