Red Sox: King of the road

By Paul White, USA TODAY, TAMPA — Terry Francona recalls walking into a hotel elevator in Baltimore this month, still smarting from a galling loss that night. The Boston Red Sox manager was joined by two Sox fans, also guests in the hotel where the team was staying.
“One of them told me I took [...]

Bird hunting with a nuclear bomb…

At first I thought it was a football score, but no…
The Texas Rangers have hunted down and slaughtered the Orioles in the first game of a twilight double header tonight. With two outs in the top of the 9th, the Rangers are leading 30 (yes thirty) to 3.
This is 30 runs on 29 hits, [...]

Holy Cow

Goodbye, Scooter … I hope the canolis are tasty up there.
As Steinbrenner says: I guess heaven needed a shortstop.

Okay, NOW I’m worried!

WTF!!!
Gagne sucks, Okie-Dokie sucks, and we can’t hit a lick AGAINST BALTIMORE.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are playing like .800 baseball since the All-Star Break.
This sucks . . .

Ok, see, when I’m wrong I’ll admit it.

One of our SIMP colleagues has made it clear over and over again that the ND Fighting Irish are superior to the BC Eagles. And we heard how much the Eagles needed Notre Dame on their schedule, and how the ND-BC game is important to the Eagles and irrelevant to the Irish, etc. [...]

He’s Baaaaaack…

Rick “Vaughn” Ankiel is back in the majors - this time, as a power-hitting outfielder.  And apparently, a pretty good one (.267 with a Pacific Coast [AAA] League-leading 32 home runs and a .568 slugging pct. in 102 games. Ranked T2nd among PCL RBI leaders with 89 and his 32 home runs are 2nd among [...]

The Nats aren’t in last place!

Just figured I’d squeeze this in before the first pitch tonight in San Fran.
As of this moment, the Marlins lost to Philly earlier today, putting the Nats a half game up in 4th place in the NL East.  Hopefully they will win tonight and this won’t be brief, but I’ll cherish it nonetheless

Bacsik and Bonds both exhibit total class with 756

Barry Bonds hit his 756 home run last night off of Mike Bacsik of the Nationals to become the all time home run leader. Now, I am not a Bonds fan, but he deserves congratulations for his accomplishment.  (whether you like him or if you want to put an * on it, etc…)  Part of [...]

I hope Randy isn’t watching San Diego…

After getting swept by the Nats, the St Louis Cardinals are taking it out on the Padres… So far in the bottom of the 5th, they have scored 9 runs on 10 hits with a walk with ZERO outs. The announcer on just said “I don’t know if I’ve seen anything like this.” [...]

2007 Notre Dame Preview

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”  Dickens’ words could easily be resurrected to describe the 2007 edition of America’s most popular college team:  the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team.
