After starting road-warrior Daisuke Matsuzaka in Game 2 at home of the American League Divisional Series and sending Curt Schilling out as the Game 3 starter in Anaheim (when Schilling was a much better pitcher at home this year), Terry Francona has finally come to his senses and has flip-flopped the two in the rotation.
Josh Beckett remains the starter for Game 1 at Fenway Park, followed then by Curt Schilling in Game 2. Matsuzaka and ALDS absentee Tim Wakefield, he of the balky back that caused him to miss the Anaheim series, will pitch then games 3 and 4 of the ALCS. Should Wakefield be unable to go, the assumption is that Beckett could come back on short rest to pitch Game 4 and then a potential Game 7 on full rest.
