The craziest year in college football continued on Saturday.

-Notre Dame lost to Navy for the first time in 44 years.  Congrats to the gutty Navy players, but the bigger story is ND Coach Charlie Weis finally “losing the crowd.”  The ND football program is now at an all-time low, and regardless of whose fault it is, if Weis doen’t fix it NOW, he will follow Davie and Willingham right out the door.  His stellar recruiting is the only thing keeping him from being fired right now.

-The National Championship picture is coming into form with only 3 weeks left.  The smart money is on Ohio State versus Oregon.  I’ll take the Ducks.

Conference Rankings:

1. SEC – LSU got past Alabama, and it looks like smooth sailing to the SEC Championship Game.

2. Pac-10 - If Oregon wins out, they will play for the national championship.  Unbelievable.

3. Big 12 – The Big 12 continues to improve with 3 teams in the top 10, plus Texas.

4. Big East – UConn and WVU seems destined for the BE Championship and a likely Orange Bowl bid.

5. ACC – Matt Ryan had a second bad week and BC finally went down, this time at home to an unranked team.  Thus, the ACC’s flirtation with the national championship game comes crashing to a halt.

6. Big 10 – Ohio State shifted into a higher gear after being outplayed by Wisconsin for three quarters and if they beat Michigan, they will play in the championship game.  The rest of the conference continues to look medicore at best.
