…Jorge Posada is reportedly “really close” to re-signing with the Yankees. Looks like A-Rod’s “concern” about whether or not one of the big three Yankee free agents coming back was unfounded.

4 years, $52 Million for a 36 year-old catcher with a career .277 average?
So much for the “new-thinking” Yankee brass.
The New York Yankees: redefining “waste” since 1995 . . .

FWIW, Buster Olney (i think; maybe it was Steve Phillips) was asked his opinion on where Pay-Rod would land, and he said (nearly verbatim): The West Coast, likely the Angels (but maybe Dodgers or Giants), and at likely LESS [my emphasis] than the $25M per he made with the Yankees, and for probably 8 years – definitely not the 10 years he wants.
WOW. If true, a MAJOR mis-calculation for Boras-Rod.
Tho, he did go on to give himself an out, saying that he had faith that Boras would get the top-dollar available/possible for Pay-Rod.
Me love the Hot Stove!
He also thought that Torii Hunter was headed to Chicago (AL), the Dodgers, or perhaps Texas (IIRC). No where were the Nats mentioned.
