From the WTF department comes this touching story of a grandfather teaching his pre-school grandson Tre Merritt how to shoot a 445 lb black bear in Arkansas. According to the grandfather, “[Tre's] 10th great-grandfather was Davy Crockett”.  The whole story is mindboggling to me, but this tidbit really jumped out at me:

Tre Merritt’s father said he began teaching his son to shoot when he was just 2 ½ years old, and said Tre killed three deer last year.

My daughter is 2 ½ years old and while I think she’s pretty adept with her hands and a very quick study, I don’t think I’d trust her with a gun. Is that even legal?
