Wille Randolph is not the the only problem that the Mets have but he certainly isn’t the solution. Yesterday, Mets GM Omar Minaya said that the team has “championship talent.” Jose Reyes is a good player but his head doesn’t seem to be in the game. Carlos Beltran is an underachiever. Four years ago, Pedro Martinez and Carlos Delgado were championship talents but they aren’t very more. If I was Minaya, I would take a hard realistic look at his team before the Wilpons realize their $140 million investment is a bust.
The Mets need a new manager who will put some fight and passion in the team. Any ideas for a new skipper?

I think I see more problems on the Mets than a new manager can solve - the team has some legitmate stars, but seems to be thin depth-wise.
As for other options, perhaps try to snag Donny Baseball away from the Dodgers before the Yankees do so at the end of the year.
I have to say its kind of nice to see our struggling but rebuilding Nats with a $55MM payroll only a few games back from the “championship talent” spending Mets at $138MM. It really takes talent to outspend the BoSox, WhiteSox and Tigers. Unfortunately that talent seems to be in spending vs on field production…
Scott: The Mets need a Paul O’Neill type rather than Don Mattingly. I’m thinking someone like Larry Bowa would light a fire under their butts.
David: I’m sure the Wilpons will point that out to the new general manager and manager.
