MLB just finished the 1st round of the amateur draft. With the 9th pick, the Nats choose a college pitcher, Aaron Crow. I saw Crow pitch last summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League. He can throw a fastball, curve and change. He has very good command of his fastball and can paint the plate with the best of them. Crow pitched for Falmouth in the CCBL last summer and Crow and 2 other Falmouth pitchers, Christian Fredreich and Shooter Hunt went in the first 31 picks in the draft.

In case anyone is wondering, Aaron Crow is a Junior at Mizzou. This is incredibly absent from most of the news coverage I’ve seen (including MLB.com), which means he had leverage and cannot not sign if he desires. I don’t think not signing is likely, as he is coming off a 13-0 season with a 2.35 ERA. It seems good to leave school on a high note, particularly as the 9th pick.
Crow is a polished pitcher so don’t be surprised if he shows up in DC next summer. Meanwhile he will pitch for the Potomac Cannons so we can all get out to Woodbridge and get a preview.
