Well, question is the terms. Two years at or below his current contract rate might actually be a surprisingly good deal. Above his current rates is painful. Keep in mind that Cabrera and Furcal make $10MM+ each and are probably asking for longer term contracts (and are 34 and 31 respectively.)

We also don’t exactly having an SS tearing it up in the minors. Seth Bynam and Ian Desmond have potential, but they are still in AA ball and probably a few years away.

So, may not end “well”, but other things could end much worse.
