Today’s must-read newspaper story is the New York Times front-pager on the impromptu wiffle ball field of dreams some teenagers built in Greenwich, Ct.
As is typical in today’s society, lawyers, politicians and outraged neighbors, quickly got
involved. But reporter Peter Applebome does a splendid job of balancing the summer idyll side of the story with real-world practicalities that can be written off as, see above, typical of today’s society. The lawyers, pols and neighbors actually have legitimate points and Applebome gives everyone their due.

Anyone can have their harmless summertime fun, so long as it’s NIMBY – Not In My Back Yard.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Seems like the public opinion is mostly on the side of the kids. [given that i don't live there...] Good for them!

We did something similar with a basketball court in a deadend alley in Columbia, MD growing up. Someone called in the county and they dismantled our basketball court. Sucked.
