The Nats have re-signed SS “Sister” Cristian Guzman to a 2-year extention, and traded closer Jon “Wookiee” Rauch to Arizona for a second-base AAA prospect. More to come…

Dang! Beat me to it!
Emilio Bonifacio is a light-hitting 2B “prospect” who has a career slugging percentage in the minors of .360, but does seem to hit for average. But his big problem is strikeouts. He struck out 528 times in his minor league career while walking only 208 times.
His best trait is that he is a speed merchant, having stolen 229 bases in the minors against only 65 CS. But a speedy 2B who strikes out a lot and doesn’t even hit a lot of doubles has limited ceiling IMHO.
But he is 23 so who knows - the doubles power may come with time. Plate discipline is something you are born with however - rarely do you develop it.
I like the “Sister” deal a lot. I think this will prove to be below market costs when we get to the free agent season.
Not sure what to think of the Rauch deal. I’m ok with dealing Rauch. I also have generally been critical of Bowden for expecting too much in return in a trade. However, with more years left on Rauch’s contract (has a 2010 club option), this one will be interesting to see. E-bone gets great marks for speed and defense. Unfortunately I don’t have huge faith in Lenny Harris to make him into a star at the plate…
Baseball America likes the deal for both parties-http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/majors/trade-central/2008/266556.html
RotoWorld hated the deal (from a Nats perspective…) http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=MLB&id=4730
