Are you kidding me?
Is this an April Fool joke?
Tim Floyd was the best Arizona could do?
Did we really wait almost 2 years for this?
I am ashamed to be an Arizona fan!
Cause, you know, we need more people talking ’bout sports.

He turned it down. Now what for UA?

All I can hope is that they make a run at Tom Izzo or Jay Wright when the Final Four is over.

Thank goodness for you (Erod) and U of A! Floyd was an AWFUL option. AZ needs a high-brow, no-nonsense, clean track-record coach to right the ship after what they’ve been through. A young up-and-comer is a good idea, even if he’s marginally unproven. But getting a guy with a shady rep and one foot in the NBA is NOT the way to go.I don’t think Izzo will ever leave MSU (he’s had every opportunity), and while he’s an awesome coach, great guy with a great rep, he’s old(er), and not the way to rebuild at UofA, I think. Wright would be a coup, if he would leave Nova. I’d love to see him at Duke when Coach K goes.Maybe poach Jamie Dixon? I don’t think Jeff Capel would leave OU, but AZ is one of the best non-east-coast/UK/KU jobs in the nation. Capel has already been highly coveted, and if he does care to leave Norman, this may be his best shot. Zona could do A LOT worse than either of those guys!

I heard a rumor a few weeks ago that Rick Pitino’s wife bought a house in Tucson. Not sure if it means anything (Tucson is a great place to live, regardless of basketball) or if it is even true, but it gave me hope.

I love it when fans looking for a coach (see Alabama) think that they can get a guy like Tom Izzo to leave Michigan State, where he’s established a legacy, to come to coach at their school. Why not try for Calhoun or Ksherzeweski?

And now even the head coach at Xavier has turned Arizona down. This is going on 5 months now!

This is just embarassing. Make the offer to my old high school coach. ANYBODY at this point would be better than more public humiliation.

I just got back to town after being out of the country (and completely out of contact) since the 5th… looks like the Sean Miller turn-down was an erroneous report, and that he’s now ‘Zona’s coach. VERY good choice by both Arizona and Miller. He’s great coach, and should do very well there. Ironically, he was an assistant for ASU head coach Herb Sendek at both Miami-Ohio and at NC State for many years, and Sendek is basically Miller’s mentor. Heh heh heh.
UofA’s biggest problem however will be that Budinger and Hill are both going early into the NBA draft, and their 3rd best player, Nic Wise, may go too. If they lose all 3 juniors, this will be almost as bad as Indiana’s rebuliding job. It may be 3-4 years before they get back into the NCAAT. Yikes.
