It’s official – Greg Paulus, the former Duke guard, will use his last year of eligibility to play quarterback close to home at Syracuse for the Orange football team:

“I grew up there. There are great opportunities there,” Paulus said. “My gut and my heart tell me the opportunity to play football at Syracuse and have the great opportunity academically, my gut and my heart were telling me that was the best place for me.”

Too bad he didn’t make that decision four years ago… though, even Greg couldn’t have saved the Other Greg (Robinson).  Better late than never I suppose.  It remains to be seen how well Paulus will be able to play QB after a four year layoff, but given that he was recruited by big-time programs like Notre Dame to play football (and basketball), it’s surely worth the possibility.  And the added publicity that this affords a program currently mired in the worst period of it’s existence doesn’t hurt either.
