I thought Scott (at least) might find this interesting: Chico Harlan’s WaPo blog indicates that Nats’ SS prospect Ian Desmond will make his MLB debut tonight, and start for the Nationals.

I didn’t know Ian Desmond was still with the team!!

You know, I just looked him up – he deserves to get a callup:

At AAA Syracuse, Desmond hit .354/.428/.461 with 20 BB and 31 K. Still would like to see a better K/BB ratio. And this could be smoke and mirrors – his career average at all other lower levels of minor league ball is no better than .255. Still, cool to see the kid get a cup of coffee. Hard to believe I think he’s still only 24!

Well, how do you like that? Two for four with a double, a homerun, and 4 RBIs in his debut! And from reading the account of the game, he narrowly missed a HR in his first at bat.
