Boeheim has always been a style maven
With a lopsided win over the Albany Great Danes tonight, Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim became the 8th coach in NCAA history to win 800 games. Congratulations to the dean of Big East coaches and one of the greatest to ever stalk the court and whine at his players to give him all they got.

As our friends over at Nunes Magician allow, Boeheim is very unlikely to end up as the all-time winningest coach in NCAA Basketball history, given that Coach K will almost assuredly break Bobby Knight’s record first and is younger than Jimmy, but he does have a strong shot at finishing second, especially given Jim Calhoun’s unfortunate health issues.

The ‘Cuse don’t have as strong a team this year as they did last year, but based on their recruiting, the Orange should be a very strong team in 2010-2011 and perhaps challenge for a deep tournament run. Would be nice to get Jim one more banner before he eventually turns the reigns over to head coach-in-waiting Mike Hopkins.
