Go National League!

While I’m invariably a fiercely loyal conference, division, and league fan, I’ll be switching sides to root for the Senior Circuit tonight.
I’m tired of the Red Sox celebrating their World Championship sweeps on someone else’s field.
With an NL win tonight, the Sox will win the trophy in the Fens for once . . .

Red Sox back in 1st place

Sox Freefall? I think not . . .

So Tampa Bay just swept the Red Sox in Tampa to take a 3.5 game lead and the Sox llimp into the Bronx tonight to play their arch-rival New York Yankees.  Things certainly appear to be grim.  Will this thus-far disappointing season end with the Sox not making the playoffs?

With a little help from Barstool Sports, [...]

Phil Steele’s 2008 Predictions

As I told you last year, Phil Steele’s College Football Preview is the best preseason football magazine in America.  It also ranks as the most accurate magazine over the past 9 years.  Last year, it was not the most accurate partly because he ignored 17 5th-year seniors and a weak schedule and picked BC to finish last [...]

Can you name all 73 BCS schools?

Good luck!
BTW, my best time so far is 4:30.

2008 College Football Preview

I know, it’s VERY early.  But I’m moving to Charlottesville in about 3 weeks, so I’m making my college football predictions now.  The first college football games are in a mere 60 days.
Real quick, a look at how I did in 2007.  First, 8 of my top 12 finished in the final top 12.  Second, I [...]

Who needs a conference?!?

NBC is extending Notre Dame’s exclusive television contract for five more years.

The contract, which was set to expire in 2010, is extended to 2015 and calls for 7 home games and 1 neutral site game per season aired on NBC.
Notre Dame football is the only team in American sports with an exclusive, national television contract [...]

“The best defense I’ve seen in my time in the NBA.”

Strong words from NBA All-Star and 2006 Finals MVP Dwayne Wade, describing the 2008 World Champion Boston Celtics.  The Celts won last night, once again proving that good defense beats good offense every single time.  Somewhere in heaven, Red is lighting up a cigar and cracking a broad grin.

Is your Wang hurt?

The final nail in the coffin of the 2008 Yankees may have been nailed yesterday afternoon when the Red Sox routed the Reds with 4 homers despite David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez both sitting, and the Yankees alleged “ace” C.M. Wang was carried off the field in what may end being a season-ending foot injury.
The [...]

Conspiracy!!!

The free throw disparity in the 3 games of the NBA Finals, coupled with recent allegations of disgraced ex-NBA referee Tim Donaghy, has the conspiracy-nuts out in force this week, alleging game-fixing and a conspiracy inside the NBA front-office.

“The NBA wants the Celtics and Lakers in the Finals!”
“The NBA wants the series to go 7”
“The [...]
